Items and Purpose of Personal Information Collection and Use

A. The information collected by “Messe Esang Co., Ltd.” (hereinafter referred to as the “Company”) through ES Membership registration is used for the purpose of establishing and fulfilling contracts related to service provision (identification and confirmation of the intention of members and event visitors), providing information on new services and exhibitions or events, and managing members (handling complaints, delivering notices, etc.).

B. The Company may use the personal information collected from members to provide various convenient services and may conduct advertising or marketing activities through general mail, email, SMS, Whatsapp notifications, service push notifications, etc. If a member does not wish to receive such information, they can notify the event office by mail or refuse the service through the provided rejection method.

C. Items of Personal Information Collection: The personal information collected by the Company is limited to the minimum necessary for service provision, but additional information may be requested if necessary. The Company collects the following personal information items as mandatory input items from members on the membership registration screen. Personal information other than the mandatory input items listed below is classified as optional input items.


  • Mandatory items: Phone number (ID), email, name, birth year, gender, residential area, etc.

D. The Company collects personal information only with the user’s consent and does not collect information that may infringe on basic human rights, such as race, place of origin, place of birth, political orientation, criminal records, health status, etc., unless the user consents or it is required by law.

E. The Company may collect personal information through the following methods:


  • Website, phone, customer center inquiries (phone/email), pre-registration/on-site registration, event participation, affiliate services, mobile applications, etc.

F. Sketch photos and videos are taken at the exhibition site and may be used for exhibition promotion/marketing materials. Users can request the withdrawal of such use at any time before or after the event.

Retention and Use Period of Personal Information

The Company retains and uses the user’s personal information only for the period notified and agreed upon, and destroys the personal information without delay once the purpose of collection and use is achieved. However, the following information is retained for the specified reasons and periods.

A. Reasons for Information Retention According to Relevant Laws

If it is necessary to retain member information in accordance with the provisions of relevant laws such as the Commercial Act and the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, the Company retains the member information for the period specified by the relevant laws. In this case, the Company uses the retained information only for the purpose of retention, and the retention periods are as follows:


  1. Service contracts such as exhibition hall and meeting room rental: 5 years

In the following cases, the information is retained until the end of the specified period.


  1. Records related to display/advertising, contract content and performance, etc. under the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce
  • Records on display/advertising: 6 months
  • Records on contracts or withdrawal of offers, payment, supply of goods, etc.: 5 years
  • Records on consumer complaints or dispute resolution: 3 years
  1. All transaction books and supporting documents specified by tax laws under the Framework Act on National Taxes: 5 years
  1. Pre-registration/on-site registration records and marketing advertising use for exhibitions: 5 years
  2. Records of refusal to receive marketing advertisements for exhibitions: 10 years
  3. ES Membership (Buyer Membership) website membership registration and management: Immediately upon withdrawal

B. The user’s personal information is destroyed without delay once the purpose of collection and use is achieved. Additionally, upon withdrawal of consent, the Company destroys the user’s personal information without delay, except for the information retained for the reasons specified above, and instructs the entrusted party to destroy the information if the personal information is entrusted to a third party.

C. Personal information printed on paper is destroyed by shredding or incineration, and personal information stored in electronic file format is destroyed using technical methods that prevent the records from being reproduced.

Management of Third-Party Provision for Personal Information Handling

  • Messe Networks Co., Ltd.: Website maintenance and server management, data processing work
  • Suwon Messe Co., Ltd.: Provision of information on affiliate events and marketing
  • Sejong Telecom: Operation of 080 free rejection service
  • Daou Technology: SMS, notification talk sending, mail service operation
  • Kakao Commerce: Provision of information on affiliate events/services and marketing

A. The Company uses the personal information of users within the scope notified in the “Items and Purpose of Personal Information Collection and Use” and does not use it beyond this scope or provide it to third parties without the user’s prior consent. However, the following cases are exceptions:


  1. When users have given prior consent to disclosure or provision to third parties
  2. When required by law or requested by investigative or supervisory authorities in accordance with legal procedures and methods

B. The Company may entrust personal information handling to others for smooth and improved services.

C. The information processed by entrustment is limited to the minimum necessary for providing smooth services.

D. In accordance with relevant laws, the Company manages the entrusted party to ensure that personal information is safely managed by stipulating compliance with personal information protection regulations, confidentiality of personal information, prohibition of third-party provision, responsibility for accidents, entrustment period, return or destruction of personal information after processing, etc., in the entrustment contract.

E. In the following cases, information is provided to participating companies and is used only for the purpose of introducing the company and products of the participating company. Visitors have the option to choose whether to provide information.


  1. Allowing the collection of registration information by scanning the barcode issued at the entrance with the participating company’s scanning equipment is considered implicit consent to provide the visitor’s registration information to the company.
  2. If pre-registration for the exhibition is made through an online banner posted on the participating company’s website, the applicant’s personal information may be provided to the participating company.

F. The collected information may be provided to the Korea Exhibition Industry Promotion Association (AKEI) as part of the international exhibition certification system operated by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the provided information will not be used for purposes other than exhibition verification.

Personal Information Management Officer

The Company strives to ensure that users can safely use the Company’s services. Users can report all personal information protection complaints related to the use of the Company’s services to the personal information management officer or the dedicated department, and the Company will respond promptly and sincerely to the user’s complaints.

Rights

In principle, users have the right to refuse consent to the collection of personal information under the Personal Information Protection Act. However, please note that if you refuse consent, you may not be able to enter the exhibition for free through free visitor registration.
